Classical Musician Turned DJ: Shib Shankar Roy

Shib Shankar Roy is an accomplished musician and DJ from Kolkata, India, who has made a significant impact on the music industry with his distinctive sound and innovative approach to music production. Born and raised in Kolkata, Shib developed a deep love for music at an early age and was trained in Tabla during his childhood by the esteemed Guru Late Shree Pradip Kr. Roy, and presently under Pandit Subhen Chatterjee.

After sharpening his skills in Tabla, Shib enrolled in Electronyk Academy, where he embarked on his career as a DJ. Starting out as a resident DJ, Shib played in various clubs in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, quickly gaining recognition for his eclectic mixes, which expertly fused traditional Indian rhythms with modern electronic beats.

Over the years, Shib has continued to evolve his sound and expand his musical repertoire. He has participated in Masterclasses conducted by prominent DJs such as DJ Chetas and Shrutinandan and has started exploring music production and sound designing. Shib’s versatility and creativity have allowed him to work across a variety of genres and collaborate with different artists on solo tracks.

Presently, Shib is associated with Zee and Sony Music, where he creates Music scores and Background Scores for various web series in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Odia. Shib’s exceptional sound and production techniques have garnered critical acclaim and a growing fan base. He has also produced music and collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including vocalists and instrumentalists, to create tracks that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Recently, Shib has been collaborating with South Music Director Anirudh Ravinchandar Team on an upcoming Bollywood Movie, which is a testament to his talent and growing influence in the music industry.
