The prestigious chess event, part of the 2024–2025 Grand Prix series, has seen stellar performances from top Indian players, signaling India’s growing dominance on the global chess stage.

Koneru Humpy, one of India’s most celebrated chess icons, now leads the standings with 5.5 points from 7 rounds. Her Round 7 win against Zhu Jiner not only broke the latter’s unbeaten streak but also placed Humpy firmly in the driver’s seat as the tournament heads into its final stages.
